I just wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who has supported me on this journey – the one where I started the process of becoming a successfully published author.
The Violet Hour has been my baby for nearly six years - it’s been a process. A wonderfully, beautiful, often ugly, sleepless night-filled, extremely rewarding, dreadful, amazing, on the verge-of-giving up process.
There’s a quote: “We write by the light of every book we’ve ever read.” I swear on every book I've ever read, this is the honest truth.
I was a reader -an avid reader- long before I was ever a writer. And, an Author? You'll find me hard-pressed to ever truly embrace the idea and call myself such a title. But on one late night, November 10th, 2009 to be exact, a story erupted inside of me that was mixture of everything I’d ever read before, and the one book I’d always wanted to read. It felt familiar yet new. I longed to know every single detail.
Over the course of the next six months, I mapped out those details. I spent hours upon hours discovering Luke and Logan's world. It was addicting. Once 'finished,' I thought I'd give publishing a try. Maybe others will want to discover Luke and Logan's world too, I thought. After countless rejection letters and emails, I clutched The Violet Hour tightly against my chest and gave up. I kept editing and writing but gave up on the idea of ever releasing this story into the world.
But over the past several years, I loosened my grip and shared my story with a very, very select few. And with lots of encouragement from a very supportive group, I began the publishing process again.
Now here we are.
So thank you. Thank you for being every bit of support I need - though not so sure I'll ever fully deserve. Thank you.
